Pura Tanah Lot , Tanah Lot

History ; "Tanah Lot means "Land in the Sea" in the Balinese language. Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home of a pilgrimage temple, the Pura Tanah Lot (literally "Tanah Lot temple"), and a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography and general exoticism.  the temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide." This is the 1st tourist destination of my trip, Pura Tanah Lot. Initially, we thought it was roughly 1/2 hour (20km) drive from Kuta but we were totally wrong. It was at least 1 hour and the cost to go there by taxi (there are no public buses or locals that goes there because there is nothing other than the temple.) is totally our of our budget and expectations.

Once there, we paid the entrance ticket ( which had increase tremendously from this year) and proceed to the historical landmark.

Thankfully we happen to visit during the low tide, as the temple is not accessible during high tide and only can take pictures from the mainland. During low tide, we are able to walk on the ocean sea bed and have a closer shot at the temple

We take a walk around the pack and enjoy the scenery while waiting for sunset to take snapshot of Tanah Lot during sunset (Oneof the famous attractions in Bali to view and see sunset)

Below are some of the temples found in Tanah Lot. All temples have roughly similiar entrance and surrounding. The temples are also very well maintained by the locals here. Some locals can be seen performing prayers etc. However, some of temples do not allow visitors or tourist to enter.

We happen to pass by an old lady selling some delicacies which look tempting, so we decided to try it out. It is covered in coconut shreds and has brown sugar fillings. It taste sweet and juicy, a delicious snack to consume while strolling around the park.

After sun has set, we proceed back to the mass of taxis and their driver all waiting for their customer. Lucky thing our driver recognised us therefore he straightaway spot us and then off we went back to Kuta. The sky turns dark so fast that we are unable to enjoy the scenery on the journey back to Kuta  except an occasional house of shop with lights on.

Once we reach our destination for dinner, we paid him as what we agreed.

Damage :
Entrance Ticket : Rp30,000 / pax
Taxi charge for return trip to Tanah Lot : Rp250,000
